EFCC Discover Decaying Bags Of Money In Wadata Police Barack (Video)

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has reportedly discovered decaying bags of money in a police barack in Benue state.

The voice over the video which is embedded below calls the police barack "Wadata" which is located in Makurdi, Benue state. This comes a few days to the phasing out of the old naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

However, the Benue state police command has now debunked the viral video, noting that the acclaimed bags of money did not originate from the police barack as reported on the social media.

The statement reads in part: “on December 13, 2022 at about 12 noon information was received at A Police Division Makurdi, that hidden Naira notes were recovered from Police Barracks Wadata.

“Police detectives sent on investigation to the scene recovered wasted papers in a shop close to Wadata Police Barracks, Makurdi.

“The owner of the shop, Mr. Isah Suleiman was invited for questioning and he tendered a licence issued to him by Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, for waste management.

He added that "these wasted papers are usually gotten from CBN and processed into mosquito repellents. Investigation has been extended to CBN for confirmation".
