In a video he shared on his Twitter handle, governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State appears to have indirectly endorsed the presidential ambition of Peter Obi and his running mate, Yesufu Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Wike while speaking to a congregation, lamented over the one-sided leadership of his party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Wike faulted why the northern part of Nigeria dominate the leadership positions of his party.
He further faulted the All Progressive Congress (APC) choice of a Muslim-Muslim presidential candidate. According to him, Nigeria is not ripe for such a political development.
Many have suggested that Wike writing off the APC's presidential candidate and that of the PDP suggests that himself and the members of his the G5 comprising governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Gburugburu of Enugu State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, and Samuel Ortom of Benue state might openly declare support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
The members of the G5 had in a statement noted that it intends to declare the presidential candidate they will support.
