Nigeria's governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been accused by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) of plotting to compromise the electorate in the forthcoming general elections.
CUPP's spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere, who made the allegation at a press conference, said the APC is also planning to remove the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, for insisting on using technology to conduct the elections.
According to Ugochinyere, the plot to compromise the electorate, known as ‘wire-wire’, has to do with harvesting the names, account numbers, voters identification number (VIN) and bank verification number (BVN), of the garnered voters.
