Nollywood actress, producer and director Genevieve Nnaji has resurfaced on the public scence after being away for many months. Her first public appearance was as a speaker at the 2022 edition of #CANEXWKND2022. Genevieve gave a talk on the importance of film industry to Africa's development. Alongside the public speaking, she made it back to social media with a post on her Instastory after months of inactivity.

Fans and admirers of Genevieve Nnaji have expressed delight and relief at her reappearance on the social scene. Genevieve's long hiatus was as a result of rumours about her mental health. It had been alleged by anonymous blogger Gistlover that the actress had been receiving psychiatric treatment at a mental home in Texas. The anonymous blogger had also derisively asked the public to "pray for Genevieve". Genevieve or the Nollywood community neither acknowledged nor refuted the claims by the anonymous blogger.
