Nigeria's first aviation minister has passed away. Chief Mbazulike Amechi who was popularly known as "The Boy is Good" or "Dara Akunwafor" died in the early hours of Tuesday, 1st November 2022 at the age of 93, in his hometown of Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area located in Anambra State. Chief Mbazulike served as the first Minister of Aviation during the First Republic in Nigeria and was among the few Nigerians involved in the Zikist Movement.[m After the ban of the movement, he became the Secretary General of NCNC Youth, a youth wing of NCNC.

Late Chief Amechi was known for his political intervention in Igboland, including his efforts towards the release of activist and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. The deceased led a delegation of Igbo leaders to Ask Rock, official residence of President Muhammadu Buhari to plead the release of the detained IPOB leader.
