A native doctor aka babalawo, has been arrested by the police in Enugu state for the shooting and manslaughter of his client. The native doctor named Emmanuel Odo had shot his client Benedict Onunze to death while attempting to test the efficacy of the bullet-repelling charm (locally known as Odeshi) that he had prepared for his client.The incident happened in Umuaram Village in Ikem community of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu.

Reports have it that the victim, who hailed from Eha-Amufu, had approached the native doctor at his shrine to prepare the "Odeshi Charm" for him. The 23 year old native doctor prepared the charm and thereafter, decided to test the potency of the charm on his client, who died instantly after receiving the gunshots. The Enugu Police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe (DSP) revealed that Emmanuel Odo was arrested on 16 November 2022, at about 11pm. The gun used in testing the charm was recovered by the police and the native doctor remains in police custody.
