Following the acquisition of social media app Twitter by billionaire and world's richest man Elon Musk, many American celebrities have declared their intention to exit the app. A number of the celebrities who decided to quit using Twitter cited Elon's decision to give everyone " free speech'' on the app without fear of a ban. The celebrities say that the "free speech'' handed to the app's users is beginning to take an overly offensive turn as hate speech is now frequently disguised as "free speech''.

TV celebrities to Grammy-winning singers make up the group of celebrities who decided to quit Twitter since Musk’s takeover of ‘the bird. Some of them include: R&B singer Toni Braxton, Grey's Anatomy series producer Shonda Rhimes, singer Sara Bareilles and basketball player LeBron James and a couple of others. Some of these celebrities also stated their intention to return to Twitter if or when it cleaned up by new owner Elon Musk and some form of "sanity" restored.
The Tesla founder and world's richest man had strolled into Twitter’s headquarters carrying a kitchen sink as he closed in on his $44 billion purchase of the social media platform last week and fired a number of top executives at the company while former CEO Parag Agrawal was escorted out of Twitter's building by security operatives.
