An unidentified woman in Anambra state has been arrested by the National Agency for The Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons(NAPTIP) for beating her underaged housemaid to death. She abandoned the maid's body in a bush afterwards. The unnamed woman confessed to the crime shortly after she was arrested by NAPTIP officials in Anambra.
The woman also led the NAPTIP officials to the bush where she had buried the underaged house help. In a video recording, the woman confessed that she had beaten the maid she identified as Ifechukwu Udorji who began convulsing after the beating. She further revealed that she had taken the maid to a hospital called Kings but the child died at the hospital. She went on to throw her corpse in the bush after the maid had been pronounced dead.

Fierce outrage have the unnamed woman's confession as many wonder why yet another Igbo woman is in the news for brutally beating and killing her maid in the process. Some have asked that agencies put in more work to prohibit Igbo women from using underaged girls as housekeepers as this practice, is generally common amongst the Igbos.
