In a series of tweet circulating the internet, Chairman/CEO Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa was seen aggressively defending herself for saying that Nigerians living in Indonesia are into drug trafficking and cultism. Ms Erewa has received a great deal of dragging by Nigerians for her statement. A certain user of Tweeter referred to her as hypocritical while accusing her of supporting a failed government.

Following the tweeted accusation, Ms Erewa fired back at the disapproving tweets by referring to the poster as "ode". This outburst attracted the attention of former minister of education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, who expressed displeasure at Ms Erewa's choice of words. Dr Ezekwesili stated that the tweet was "messy" and implored the Chairman of Nigerian in Diaspora to ''clean it up, quickly". Ms Erewa who did not take kindly to Dr Ezekwesili's intervention, declared that she was not a public officer who "cowed" to bullying. This reply has to further expressions of displeasure by Nigerians at Ms Erewa. She has been tagged a rude and ill-mannered public officer who does not deserve to represent Nigerians abroad.
