The Labour Party's presidential aspirant Mr Peter Obi has announced his intention to suspend for a while, all of his campaign activities towards the forthcoming presidential elections of 2023. This decision according to the aspirant, was reached in order to give utmost attention and pay visits to citizens affected by the terrible flood in various parts of the country. Mr Peter Obi made the announcement of his campaign suspension on Wednesday 19 October, after a closed door meeting with Samuel Ortom, Executive Governor of Benue state, at his residence in Abuja.

Mr Peter Obi further implored his political opponents to show concern towards the flood victims by also taking the decision to suspend their political campaigns. He further urged all political aspirants to instead, spend the money intended for the campaign on caring for the victims whose homes and possessions have been destroyed by the flood. Mr Obi told journalists that it was time for everyone to come together irrespective of political affiliations or differences, in order ensure the survival of displaced citizens and the country as a whole.
