A Nigerian man identified as Charles Chukwuma Onwuemelie has been arrested for allegedly carrying out 68 robbery attacks between the period of October 2021 and September 2022 which was the period of the arrest. Until the time of arrest, Charles who had been dubbed "The Blue Cloth Bandit" was a resident of Quartz Hill, Los Angeles, California in the United States of America.
Charles Chukwuma Onwuemelie had earned the alias "Blue Cloth Bandit" as a result of his habit of covering his handgun with a blue piece of cloth during his robbery operations. Onwuemelie was caught in surveillance footage revealing his firearm wrapped in a blue cloth at the cash counter of Walmart's . The video, released by the LAPD, also shows him covering his face with a hat while he was wearing blue gloves.

The 26 year old serial thief had celebrated an extravagant wedding ceremony 5 months before his arrest. His wife Stephanie, claims to have no knowledge whatsoever of her husband's criminal ways. Charles Chukwuma Onwuemelie has been charged with 16 counts of robbery that occurred within the city limits of LA. Additional charges are expected to be filed by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department for robberies that took place throughout the county.
