In a video making the rounds on the internet, a seemingly mentally unstable man emptied his pockets of many wads of naira notes upon interrogation by military personnel. The extremely unkempt male who muttered largely undecipherable words was also found to be in possession of a cutlass and some scraps of metal. A military officer that the man sold scraps.
The officers asked the seemingly mentally unstable man when last he had had a haircut to which he revealed that it had been many years since he last had one. Further questioning of the strange man produced generally incoherent answers. He was allowed to retrieve his money and told to go eat by the officers who dismissed him afterwards.

Nigerians have reacted negatively to this video and tagged the soldiers incompetent for allowing a man who looked unstable abscond with such a huge amount of money, without adequate interrogation or detention, or even trying to ascertain his true mental state. It has become a rampant tactic for kidnappers and murders alike to pretend to be mentally deranged in order to lure their unsuspecting victims.
