Following the announcement of the Lagos State Government of its plan to indefinitely shut down two commercial hubs in the state, the Ladipo and Oyingbo markets, the Labour Party has described the All Progressives Congress government in Lagos state "as a very intolerant government." The Lagos State Government announced plans to indefinitely shut down these markets on 22nd September 2022, citing indiscriminate waste disposal and environment problems as reasons for the decision.
National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Arabambi Abayomi in a statement given to pressmen in Abuja, expressed shock and outrage at the planned shutdown of the markets, adding that it is a further sign of the intolerance of the APC-led administration in Lagos. He stated that this decision to shut down the Ladipo and Oyingbo markets is a direct attack on the Igbo people who have expressed support for the party's presidential aspirant, Peter Obi. Arabambi described the decision as "a callous, insensitive and an oppressive act by the Lagos All Progressives Congress government." He further asserted that the party wished to declare that the "APC in Lagos State is a very intolerant government"

Netizens have expressed displeasure with the Lagos State Government at its decision to indefinitely shut down these markets. They described the decision as the violation of a core fundamental human right which is "the right to vote and be voted for". Supporters of the Labour Party have further give instances on ways the All Progressives Congress and the APC government of Lagos state have tried to sabotage all opposition parties. Examples include the fact that the Lagos State Government has prevented all opposition parties from publicly mounting signposts, billboards and advertisement posters of their aspirants and also the enforcement of the use of the photos of the party's presidential candidate as stickers on commercial vehicles in some parts of the state.
