Popular Human Rights Activist Harrison Gwamnishu, has brought public attention to a case of female brutality. Harrison Gwamnishu wrote that Mrs Amarachi Okechi, a widow, was accused of witchcraft by her late husband's brother's wife (sister-in-law).
This incident occurred in Umueghu, Amaegbuato community of Nkpa Bende local government area of Abia state.
According to Harrison Gwamnishu, despite the widow's plea of innocence, her hands and legs were forcefully tied while male members of the community went on to flog her while also filming the barbaric act.
The activist revealed that the brutalised widow's children reached out to his NGO Behind Bars and he has decided to take up the matter irrespective of the cost.
He also asked that indigenes of Abia state should reach out to the governor's wife by tagging her to the said post.
