In a video making the rounds on social media, Bishop of a Catholic church in Ogoja Diocese, Bishop John .E. Ayah, rejected a donation of 25 million naira from governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade. Immediately after the governor made a declaration of the donation, the priest halted cheers from the congregation and asked the governor to put the money together and pay salaries with it.
The unusual rejection of a donation by a clergyman has earned the bishop widespread respect and many have said that he's a man of integrity. Some compared the bishop's rejection of the governor's offer with the like of Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka and said that more priests needed to emulate the bishop's show of integrity.
