One Chinasa Michael, has been remanded by an Ikeja Magistrate Court after he was accused of setting fire to a BRT bus terminal at Oyingbo in Lagos in the wake of the 2020 EndSars protests.
The court magistrate, M.C. Ayinde, on Thursday ordered that the 21-year old man be remanded pending legal advice
Chinansa, an unemployed youth who resides at No. 21, Ilogbo St., Apapa Road, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy, arson, and causing the breach of peace.
While refusing to take Chinansa's plea, the magistrate, ordered that he should be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional centre until 1 September, pending legal advice.
She further ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
The prosecution counsel, Segun Oke, had earlier intimated the court that the offences were committed in October 2020 at the Oyingbo BRT bus terminal, Lagos.
Oke averred that Chinansa and others (currently at large) set the BRT bus terminal on fire during the #EndSars protest, in contravention of provisions Sections 168, 343 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
