Professional American tennis player Serena Williams, has revealed her intention to retire from the sport sometime after the US Open which begins later in August, 2022. The 23-time Grand Slam champion revealed the decision in the upcoming issue of Vogue magazine, saying she wants to focus on other important things, including growing her family. Serena Williams says she is ready to step away from tennis after winning 23 Grand Slam titles, turning her focus to having another child and her business interests.The tennis star also said she did not like the word retirement and preferred to think of this stage of her life as evolving away from tennis, towards other things that are important to her.

40 year old Serena Williams is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. She is also the highest earning woman athlete of all time. Serena Williams has won a record 13 Grand Slam singles titles on hard court. She is also a five-time winner of the WTA Tour Championships in the singles division. Lovers of tennis have declared that the racquet star would be sorely missed at the court.
