The Lagos State Government has extended the Okada ban to 4 More Local Government Areas and 6 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA). The ban extension is set to take effect from September 1, 2022. The first Okada ban that covered certain areas in Lagos state took effect from June 1st, 2022.

Speaking to the press, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government on Transportation, Honourable Sola Giwa revealed that the extended ban will cover Local Government Areas like Oshodi and Eti-Osa. The ban will extend to connecting areas like Mushin, Shomolu, Gbagada, Isolo(including the airport road) down to Victoria Island and on to Eti-Osa. Honourable Sola Giwa stated that the aim of the extended ban was to focus on major highways where many dangerous accidents happen. He also revealed that the plan of the Lagos State Government as regards transportation in the state is mass transit.
