Emirates Airlines Set to Suspend Operations in Nigeria

 On Thursday 18 August, 2022, Emirates Airlines disclosed its plan to suspend all flight operations in Nigeria. This indefinite suspension will take effect from September 1, 2022. The news of the intention to suspend operations in Nigeria comes about three weeks after the airlines appealed to the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, to support the repatriation of its $85 million revenue. The airline further sought the help of the Nigerian government to address its financial constraint which is the major issue the airline currently faces.

Emirates Airlines is the world's fourth largest airline by scheduled revenue passenger-kilometers flown and the second largest in terms of freight tonne kilometers flown. The airline operates in more than 150 cities in 80 countries across 6 continents through its fleet of nearly 300 aircraft.
