The management of Ethiopian Airlines has suspended 2 Boeing 737 pilots for sleeping on duty.
The pilots were suspended pending further investigation into the incident wherein their Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 #ET343 was still at cruising altitude of 37,000ft by the time it reached destination Addis Ababa.
It was gathered that when it was time for the plane to descend for landing, both pilots were asleep.
According to reports, Air traffic controllers tried to contact the pilots numerous times without success
After overflying the runway (still at cruising altitude), the autopilot disconnected - and the chime alert woke the pilots up, who then initiated a descent and eventually made a safe landing.
