A few hours after president Muhammadu Buhari visited the Medium correctional facility in Kuje, Abuja where suspected Boko Haram terrorists two days ago stormed to free not less than 61 of their detained members, reports have it the inmates are the verge of rioting over claim that their money was looted by the attackers.
Recall that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Shuaib Belgore had disclosed that about 600 inmates escaped the prison facility during the attack including the 61 Boko Haram terrorists held at the facility.
Amid the report of the attack, inmates in the Kuje Prison are reportedly plotting to riot over the claim by the prison officials that the money belonging to the inmates was carted away by the terrorists who attacked the prison facility.
An unnamed source by the People's Gazette claims that about 97.1 million Naira belonging to inmates was looted by the attackers; a report from the prison officials the prisoners are uninterested in and unwilling to accept.
The report also claims that notable figures held in the facility such as former governor Jolly Nyame, DCP Abba Kyari, and Farouk Lawan, a former member of the House of Representatives, own the greater sum of the alleged looted funds.
