After Joke Silva shared a post which read A Toast to Olu Jacobs 80th Birthday Celebration, many Nigerians have extended an outpour of love and goodwill towards Veteran actor Olu Jacobs. His wife and screen Amazon Joke Silva hinted at the celebration when she shared a throwback photo of her husband. The photo had the caption 80th Birthday Loading... When interviewed, Joke Silva affirmed that the veteran will clock 80 on 11th July, 2022.
Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, professionally known as Olu Jacobs is considered one of the most influential African actors of all time. In fact, many people consider him the Morgan Freeman of Africa. With a career spanning over 5 decades, he was honoured with the Industry's Merit Award for Outstanding Achievements in 2013. Olu Jacobs also received a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021.
Olu Jacobs gradually stopped appearing in movie roles in 2018. However, it wasn't until after he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 that his wife Joke Silva finally affirmed the actor's bow out of his career. Nigerians had noticed that he looked very different and rather uncoordinated when he went on stage to receive the award. In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Joke Silva revealed that the actor had been battling a condition called Dementia with Lewy Bodies.
