Nigerians reacted strongly to photos of a large family shared on Facebook by a man with the Facebook username Baba Lawal. Mr Lawal shared photos of his 3 wives and 19 children in thanksgiving to Allah for the Eid-Al-Adha celebration on July 10, 2022. According to his now deleted Facebook bio, Mr Lawal from Kwara State, teaches at Umar Bn Khattab College of Education Kaduna and is a Secretary at Kaduna State Hisbah.
Mr Lawal's family photos went viral after his post was shared by many blogs. Nigerians had varied opinions on the largeness of his family. Some accused him of being irresponsible, greedy and adding to the poverty rate in the country as they declared that his children looked malnourished from the pictures. Yet others applauded and said it was no one's business since he wasn't begging for alms to feed his family.
Mr Lawal is currently Popular now on Facebook's search engine. However, Mr Lawal's personal account can no longer be found on the app.
