Asisat Oshoala, the 27 year old who played a major role in Barcelona’s title-winning season in Spain has been named the 2022 African Women’s Player of the year at The Confederation of African Federation (CAF) awards ceremony on Thursday the 21st of July, 2022 in Rabat, Morocco. With this, she overtook Perpetua Nkwocha who claimed the accolade four times. Oshoala is now the first African to win this award five times.

The striker who sustained an injury which led to her missing a couple of matches still emerged as the league joint-top scorer after netting 20 goals in 19 league appearances. Congratulations to her!
