Peter Obi Reveals Why He Met Governor Nyesom Wike

Following the political drama between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi before the People's Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election, many would have expected that Political alliance between the duo would be the least to happen.

Wike had on a national TV tongue-lashed Peter Obi for quitting his PDP membership to the PDP before the party's presidential primary election. He accused Peter of lacking integrity as well as not being a party loyalist.

Interestingly, Wike who is understood to be harbouring grievances against the People's Democratic Party 's leadership and the presidential candidate of the party, held a closed-door meeting with Peter Obi today in Port Harcourt.

Wike is rumoured to be grieved by alleged sidelining in the affairs of the PDP by the party's leadership. He was projected by many to emerge Atiku Abubakar's running mate after he emerged the first runner-up in the PDP's presidential primary election. However, a last-minute conspiracy among the party hierarchy saw that Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa was picked as Atiku's running mate in his expense.

Another Governor understood to be unhappy with the PDP's national party leadership is Godwin Obaseki who in his yesterday's remark, enjoined the party to rebrand and reposition the party to become a formidable force. He added that Peter Obi who a few weeks ago left the PDP for the Labour party, has become an icon of hope for Nigerians across states of the Federation.

However, Peter while reacting to his meeting with Wike today, disclosed on his Facebook page that the meeting was to unite with the governor necessary to change the current anomalies bedeviling Nigeria.

" Today I met my friend, H.E Nyesom Wike in his state, Rivers state. Let's Unite and change the status quo", he wrote

This implies that Wike might be considering aligning with Peter Obi and supporting his presidential ambition at the expense of the presidential flag bearer of his party.
