Ike Ekweremadu Tells His Own Side Of The Story On Alleged Organ Harvesting

Embattled Nigerian senator and former deputy senate president of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu who was earlier reported to have been arrested and detained in the United Kingdom alongside with his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka over alleged organ harvesting plot, was arraigned in Oxbridge Magistrates' court today.

He was however not granted bail by the court today; hence, remains in custody of the police.

However, an unconfirmed report says the Nigerian senator told the court that he was not involved in human trafficking nor organ harvesting. According to the report, his daughter who needed a transplant got a willing 21-year-old donor in Nigeria who was then brought to the United Kingdom, facilitated by Ekweremadu and his wife.

The report further claims that  Ekweremadu had written the U.K government about the development. It added that the organ of the donor did not match that of Ekweremadu's child and that the donor in his bid not to return to Nigeria, raised a false alarm.

"Ekweremadu wasn't involved in any organ trafficking. He has a daughter who needs a transplant.

"A willing donor was seen in Nigeria and travel preparations were made. Ike Ekweremadu did write to the British High Commission, explaining the situation

"The donor travelled to the UK with the patient. The donor is a 21 year old man and not a girl as many are writing.

"He is not a minor. As it happened, the organ did not even match. Not wanting to return to Nigeria, the donor went to report that he was trafficked to London for possible organ harvest, believing same would guarantee him asylum.

"That's the other perspective.  We will update as we obtain more information", the report says.

  1. I am among those that so condemned him yesterday . It's unfortunate how Nigerians behave if what you wrote about the donor is true. May God forgive me for condemning this man yesterday
