How Bola Tinubu In His Appreciation Remark Lambasted Senate President, Ahmad Lawal For Competing Against Him

The winner of the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential primary election, Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose victory was preceded by intrigues and controversy over rumoured consensus candidate, took a slight dig at the rumoured consensus candidate of the party, Ahmad Lawal.

Recall that the national chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu had in a controversial statement on the 6th of June, claimed that the current senate president, Ahmad Lawal was the most credible candidate to fly the party's presidential flag in the 2023 presidential election. His statement was further construed to mean an endorsement from the National Working Committee of the party as well as by president Muhammadu Buhari. However, the presidency was quick to disclaim that the president had instructed him to say so or was privy to such a decision.

Interestingly, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his victory remark after he was announced the winner of the presidential primary election, took a slight dig at Ahmad Lawal, the Senate President. Tinubu claimed that he was surprised that the Senate President who has enjoyed his political support could contest against him. He added that though he contested against him that he" could now lick his wounds.”

A statement which implies despite the conspiracies against him and for the Senate President that he (Tinubu) emerged victorious at his expense.
