The social media space was thrown into apprehension recently when the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos State chapter revealed that it paid N100 million ransom to secure the release of the Methodist Church prelate, Samuel Kanu-Uche who was kidnapped by unknown gun men.
The Lagos State Chairman of CAN, Bishop Stephen Adegbite had in a press conference in Yaba, lagos State on Tuesday made public that it had paid the sum as the ransom payment required by the abductors.
Actor Akah Nnanihas now criticized the move by Lagos CAN, positing that the Christian organization erred by making the information public.
The Actor in his reaction to the video posted on PUNCH Instagram page, said:
“Good. So you have just told kidnappers that this is good business. Well done.”
Clarifying, Nnani said, “I’m talking about CAN being comfortable sharing this news. Not everything should be public consumption. I don’t think it’s a good thing to negotiate with kidnappers. Our state of security is so horrible.
“So if it comes to that, keep quiet so as not to encourage more incidences. They shouldn’t have shared. Plus this is CAN. But if it were a poor Christian they will say pray. Prelate now, they paid 100m.”
Exola News recalls that the Prelate alongside the Methodist Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark, and his (the Prelate’s) chaplain was abducted on Sunday evening.
