Matiyasi FC, a South African based club in the lower division of the county’s football system, has been banned by the football body for life after they scored 59 goals in one match.
The team, aiming for promotion to the Provincial ABC Motsepe League, had reportedly beat Nsami Mighty Birds 59-1, and not only that, a bizzare forty-one of the goals scored as own-goals.

Another shocking highlight of the match was the report of a player recorded to have been given a red card in the first half also recorded to have scored a goal in the second half, indicating a sinister match-fixing plan.
The incident, it was gathered, happened last week, with the South African Football Association (SAFA) swiftly reacting with its regional office in Limpopo summoning both Matiyasi FC and Nsami Mighty Birds to a Disciplinary Committee hearing on 25 May 2022 in Giyani, Matiyasi FC, according to FarPost.co.za.
The two teams were charged and subsequently found guilty of corruption and contravening the association’s statutes.
SAFA in the verdict, permanently banned the clubs from all football activities while the officials implicated from both teams have also been given a five-year suspension within the region.
In another similar development, in another match from the same league, Shivulani Dangerous Tigers beat Kototo Happy Boys 33-1 on the same date, with seven own goals recorded.
SAFA also handed the teams a life ban from football as they were also found guilty of contravening the SAFA rules.
