Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body, and this can lead to heart failure. Patients with this disease will have their hearts weakened and unable to pump blood, in most cases needing a heart transplant.
This is the story of a 27-year-old professional fitness model and bodybuilder named Andrew Jones diagnosed with cardiomyopathy but lives an active lifestyle and regularly works out in the gym despite his medical condition.

In Jones's case, he has no pulse, nor a self-functioning heart, and to keep himself alive, he carries around with him at all times an artificial heart pump and pacemaker attached to a backpack, while having to plug himself into the wall outlet every night to charge the lifesaving hardware.
He was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2012 and in the period of waiting for a full heart transplant, Jones was given a device to help his heart pump blood around his body. The equipment called a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) consisted of a battery pack and a computer, which powers and controls the technology assisting his heart. The LVAD is a known portable device that gives patients the leverage to continue doing their normal activities while they await transplant.
