Prominent Yoruba monarch, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has died in the late hours of Friday, 22nd April, 2022, at age 83, bringing his 52 years of reign to an end.
The monarch had been ill and hospilized at Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, where he died.
A source who knows about his medical travel plan, revealed that before he died, there were plans to fly him to an unnamed country for treatment.

However, earlier this morning, the corpse of the Yoruba traditional ruler was brought to Oyo town, 62 kilometres away from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, while the burial rites have been initiated.
