Nigerian music superstar, D’banj claims that he was ignored by Kemnis Music Boss, Kenny Ogungbe after performing in an event where Kennis Music record label boss, Kenny Keke Ogungbe and his business associate, Dayo D1 Adeneye were present as guests.
He revealed that he was underestimated and neglected by the record label boss years ago before his meeting with Don jazzy.
The sensational artiste (D'banj), explained that before his rise to stardom that his effort link up with Ogungbe somewhere at Isolo, Lagos, was ignored. According to him, despite his outflowing self-introduction to Kenny within Isolo, after he had stepped out of his 1990 Golf Car, he could not impress Mr. Ogungbe who ignored him.
He said Mr. Ogungbe after collecting his music demo CD, disinterestedly flung it towards the backseat of his car and zoomed off.
However, he was at the verge of his rise to stardom as a few weeks later, he got his UK visa approval and proceeded to meet his music partner, Don Jazzy, in London.
D’banj said: “I was in Isolo going to LASU in my 1990 Golf, I was driving on the other lane, before God and man, Baba Keke passed, I did what any young entrepreneur would do, I turned my car and followed him. I parked my car and came out with my CD – that time I never meet Don Jazzy oh – I rush go baba car and knocked on the window looking like a traffic thief. I don’t even know my name then.
“I kept knocking until he wind down the glass and I gave him my CD which he threw on the seat. Although, I got some calls later but shortly after, I got my visa to the UK where I met Don Jazzy and the story became history. But for even seeing him inspired me.
“Now that I get such requests, I kind of understand his reaction then but at that time, I no understand oh.” He said.
