Stunning: Fuel Marketers Give Reason For The Ongoing Fuel Scarcity, Make Suggestions

A group of petrol marketers have explained the reason behind the ongoing scarcity of the product in some part of Nigeria. According to the marketers who spoke on the condition of anonymity to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), noted that the scarcity will continue unless the petrol depots across the affected states are restocked with good products other than the adulterated product they were supplied.

The marketers noted that the poor quality petrol is being reversed to the suppliers and believe that the scarcity is dependent on the logistics involved in returning the poor quality brought and restocking the depots with good product.

One of the marketers who spoke to NAN noted: “As we speak, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd is working to ensure that this disruption to the supply chain is addressed as soon as possible.

“However, there is the challenge of logistics and how to compensate those who were supplied with the adulterated products.

“The NNPC is working with marketers on this and once the depots are restocked, tankers will start loading and supply will improve across the country.

"Until we are able to achieve this, queues will remain at the petrol stations because of the panic already created.

There have been long queues across a few filling stations in Lagos State particularly, while many Filling Stations supposedly out of petrol, were shut.

Exola TV can also confirm that the majority of the filling stations currently selling petrol in Lagos State are either selling above the official pump price or selling adulterated petrol.
