Facebook and Instagram founder, Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly threatened to restrict its services to Europe over an unresolved legal issue.
The European countries perceive Meta's (Facebook) transatlantic record transfer as a threat to the privacy of the European who use Facebook. Hence, Meta's mandatory annual reports to the U.S government contradicts the ruling of U.K European Court of Justice in July, 2020 which prevented Facebook from transferring the records of its European users to the U.S.

In consequence, Facebook said that it will 'probably" restrict some of its products and services to the Europeans if a new legal framework is not provided.
Meta has insisted that sharing the data of its users is paramount to its service delivery.
