Tuesday, 15th of February, 2022, a man dressed like a mentally deranged person suspected to be a kidnapper, died after jumping off a bridge in Molete area of Ibadan, Oyo State, in his attempt to escape from some mob.
It was reported that the man was seen first in a private car, receiving a package from an unidentified person, along Molete overhead bridge in Ibadan.
After receiving the package from the person in the vehicle, he came down and the vehicle zoomed off. It was at that point the mob chased after the man, beat him up and set him ablaze.
An eyewitness identified as Ademola revealed that some items recovered from the deceased prompted the attack on him by the mob. Items recovered were: N7 million cheque, iPhone, and a cutlass. This gave the mob the belief that he is normal and might be into illegal business.
Another eyewitness who pleaded to be anonymous said: “I was in my shop under the bridge this afternoon when we suddenly saw the mentally-deranged man jump down from the bridge after being set ablaze by the mob. I didn’t know what transpired between them on the bridge but I saw him when he jumped down with fire burning on his body.

“The mob was seen pouring petrol on the victim while he was seen rolling in pain on the ground I am not in support of jungle justice because we are not sure if anything suspicious was truly seen on him but the mob claimed a cheque of N7 million and iPhone was seen after searching his body." the witness added.
