The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2019 general elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has revealed when he would declare his intention to contest again for the nation’s top job.
Atiku, who served as Nigeria’s Vice-President from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007, had already contested for President thrice on different political platforms.
He contested in 2007 as a candidate of the defunct Action Congress and was unsuccessful in his bid then as a sitting number 2. He contested again in the 2015 presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and lost to the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari.
He won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was the opposition party’s candidate in the 2019 presidential poll and lost the general election to the current President.
The Former Vice President, while paying a courtesy call on
governor Abubakar Sani Bello at the government house in Minna, told journalists
after a closed-door meeting with the governor that he will declare his
presidential ambition in due time.
He used the opportunity to condole with the governor over the issue recent
banditry attack noting that the security situation in the state calls for
urgent attention.
