Sylvester Oromoni: Lagos State Government Makes New Discovery, Frees Five Dowen Students Arrested Over The Death Of Sylvester Oromoni

Five students as well as five staff of Dowen College arrested in connection with the death of Sylvester Oromoni, have been exonerated by the Lagos State Government

The suspects were exonerated in consonant with the Legal Advice proffered by the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, Ms. Adetutu Oshinusi.

This follows the autopsy reports from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital as well as the toxicology report of postmortem carried out which are in consonant with the reports issued by Central Hospital, Warri.  The reports reveal that the cause of Sylvester’s Oromoni’s death are pyomoysitis and acute pneumonia resulting from sever sepsis. The toxicology reports according to the legal advice, has no evidence of poisonous chemical in the body of the deceased as widely speculated and peddled by the deceased family.

It is on the this premise that the DPP recommended in  his Legal Advice that the five students of the college in the police net:Favour Benjamin aged 16, Micheal Kashamu (15), Edward Begue (16), Ansel Temile (14) and Kenneth Inyang (15) be freed as there is no established case of murder, involuntary manslaughter and or malicious administering of poison.

”From available facts in the duplicate case file, the investigation carried out by the Police did not reveal that any secret society name, tattoo or insignia of any unlawful society was found in the possession of any of the suspects during the investigation carried out by the Police.

To hold otherwise would amount to sniffing for an offence and a speculative act which is not permitted in law. It is trite law that suspicion no matter how grave cannot be a ground for conviction”the legal advice read in part

Also, five of the college’s staff: Celina Uduak, Valentine Igboekweze, Hammed Ayomo Bariyu, Adesanya Olusesan Olusegun and one Adeyemi  were cleared.
