The word "Agbero" resonates in the hearts of Lagosians; this is because, it is synonymous with an entrenched evil that has attained a-never-going-away status.
Agbero, which can be deduced as Government mafias though not openly backed by the State's Government but institutionalized in the state by past Government administrations, is a personification of dread, fear, and evidence of mobocracy.
These dreaded mafias are the very reason Lagosians weep for lack and extortion. They are coordinated in their activities, versatile as the sun, systematic as a government, and persistent as evil.
History has it that a former governor of Lagos State and presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu was the brain behind the Agbero mafias, whose interest they serve ranging from extorting commercial bus drivers, traders at various markets across the state, to serving the political interest of the Lagos state's unofficial kingmaker, by snatching ballot boxes and attacking his Political opponents during elections.
As can be seen in the attached video, infighting among these dreaded mafias oftentimes spills over to the innocent Lagosians who are helpless like leaves at the mercy of violent breeze. Aside that their infighting results in their killing and maiming of one another in their battle for supremacy or who controls where and how, the blood of innocent Lagosians despite payment of their routine levies, is spilled on the ground of the unsmiling land of Lagos. Who cares? Not the unofficial patriarch of Lagos who is currently gearing up to extend his tents to the national level in 2023.

Despite this armed conflict ongoing for more than 48 hours, the state government(conglomeration of puppets) remains mute as the security operatives stand aloof, perhaps waiting for the power that be to decide or wake from his slumber.
The war is raging; thankfully, not between Lagosians and the "agberos but between "agberos and agberos"
One is now forced to put his hands on his waist and soliloquize; who do us this thing?
