Two policemen have been arrested by men of Edo State vigilante. The two unremorseful policemen were caught with a bag of Indian Hemp otherwise known as "Igbo".
The outlawed substance was recovered in large quantity from the policemen who did not disclose while such amount of cannabis was in their possession.
The vigilante men alleged that the duo must be trading the hard drugs. The unrepentant policemen despite the incriminating evidence against them, bragged that the vigilante men were powerless as they can not prosecute them but will have to hand them over the police.
While answering question about the car in their possession (Toyota Venza) too expensive for a police officer to own, they claimed that the car belonged to their unnamed friend.
The Exola Tv had also reported that 18 passengers en route Abuja Were Kidnapped at a police checkpoint in Edo state. The incident happened along Auchi-Abuja Road.
The abduction of the passengers led team of stranded passengers and some of the community residents into combing the area in search of the 18 kidnapped passengers. Regrettably, the Kidnappers' den was discovered right in front of the police checkpoint. Items recovered in the mud-walled Kidnappers' den includes lives bullets, teargas cannisters, male clothes and more.
Residents of the community accused the police officers at the checkpoint of extortion and complicity to the incessant Kidnapping happening within the police checkpoint. They alleged that the police officers were in collaboration with the Kidnappers; hence, provided them with arms and ammunition, also, shielded them from the law.
Meanwhile, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on the 4th of December, in a statement released on its Facebook page, opposed the call by some Nigerians for Indian Hemp to be legalized. NDLEA in its opposition to the call, stated that Nigeria will become a "drug-ravaged" nation should "Igbo" consumption and production be legalized in the country.
In its argument, NDLEA noted that Nigerians are the highest abusers of cannabis in the world despite it being outlawed in Nigeria. NDLEA stated further that Nigerians abuse "Igbo" more than countries where its consumption is legal.
From these two recent events, it is obvious that the Nigeria Police Force to a great extent, is very compromised, corrupt. They are more criminals than the criminals. Absolutely good at nothing but in abetting crimes, extorting Nigerians and for serving the need of the corrupt Nigerian politicians.
Nigerians might be securer and Safer without the Nigeria Police Force.
