More revelations unfolds in the pursuit of justice for the murdered Dowen college student Sylvester Oromoni.

The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, has confirmed in a telephone interview that three of the alleged five Students who assaulted Sylvester Oromoni for his refusal to join cult are now in their custody.

The Commissioner of police for Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu when asked to confirm the news that three of the students of the Dowen College have been arrested, noted thus: "yes, it's true".

C.P Hakeem Odumosu further revealed that the three students have provided vital pieces of information that are helpful in getting to the root of the matter. He also mentioned that some of the staff of the Dowen College have also been cooperative and have been providing useful information to the police.

Recall that Sylvester Oromoni according his father, had died after five Students of the Dowen College, Lekki Lagos, reportedly assaulted him for not joining their cult. Regrettably, Sylvester would later die from the injuries inflicted on him by his assaulters.

Recall also that the school while reacting to the sad event, issued a statement in which it claimed that Sylvester had sustained an injury while playing football. This narrative, contradicts that of Sylvester's father.

The Exola TV had reported that the son of late Senator Buruji Kashamu, Adewale Michael Kashamu is accused of being one of Sylvester's assaulters. In a press Statement released by Kashamu's family, they noted that Adewale Kashamu has never assaulted Sylvester Oromoni who was his (Adewale's) school son before he (Adewale) was moved to another floor.

Meanwhile, C.P Hakeem Odumosu stated that the narrative that Sylvester Oromoni died from injuries inflicted on him by his school mates, is still a mere "allegation" until Investigation prove otherwise.

"It is still an allegation until we conduct our investigation. We just started full investigation yesterday (Monday). Two out of those mentioned in the viral video are at large while three of the students are helping us to get others", he said.

“I am in contact with my counterpart in Delta State. I spoke with the parents yesterday, we are perfecting everything scientifically,” Odumosu added.

It is undoubtedly a general feeling that justice be done in the case of Sylvester Oromoni. Justice in itself is a deterrent and not vengeance, this the majority of Nigerians concur to and want applied in this context. As ubiquitous it's now in our secondary and tertiary institutions, cultism is a menace and if not curbed in the Nigeria Education System, its devasting effect will leave no sector unaffected.

Indeed, we can not go back and make a brand new start but we can start now and have a brand new ending.
