The Exola TV reported yesterday that three Students of Dowen College linked to the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old boy of the above named college, were arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command.
The Commissioner of police, Lagos State Command, Hakeem Odumosu revealed yesterday in a telephone interview that two of the students were "at large".
What shocked everyone in the recent development of the case was after the arrest and questioning by the police, a source disclosed that the students have been taught what to put down as their statements. Hence, the students made similar statement with similar words.
The source revealed that the students were told to state that Sylvester Oromoni was sick at school and that his uncle had visited their school to take Sylvester to a hospital in Ibadan. They said that Sylvester could not recover from his illness while in Ibadan with his uncle, thereafter, he was taken to Delta State where his parents live and where he later died.
“It was as if they were all lectured to make the same statement over the unfortunate incident. “This is because of the glaring similarity in their choice of words and denial which they stated in their statement. Infact, sources said that they were saying that the victim fell sick and the school authorities called the parents in Warri after which they sent one of their cousins to pick him in school.

"Then, the cousin was said to have taken Sylvester to Ibadan only to call the school authorities a few days later to claim that his condition was deteriorating and was taking him to Warri where the parents reside. “This, sources stated, fueled claims by the suspects in their statements to the police that the victim may have died of an unknown sickness", the source said.
After the arrested students denied brutalizing Sylvester Oromoni or knowing about his alleged brutality which allegedly led to his death, they were taken to a Lagos State High Court where the police were granted permission to detain them(the students) pending the time investigation on the matter will be concluded.
