“Uche Nwosu, my wife and daughter were at the church for an outing service, when a group of men in police uniform started shooting while the sermon was ongoing. In the course of their activities, they pushed down my wife and tore my daughter’s clothes. No warrant of arrest. No invitation. We suspected kidnapping at first. Many people were injured while running. Uche Nwosu was dragged into a bus carrying Imo State Government number plate", a statement from Rochas Okorocha after his Son-in-law, Uche Nwosu was arrested during a Thanksgiving outing for his recently buried late mother.
Men identified as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force by police officers attached to the embattled Uche Nwosu, created panic when they stormed an ongoing Church service to arrest Uche Nwosu, a son-in-law to Rochas Okorocha and the first runner-up in the 2019 Imo State Governorship election.
It's worthy of note that the brain behind the abduction-like arrest of Uche Nwosu is not any other person but the current governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma whose acrimony with Rochas Okorocha is becoming proverbial.
Hope Uzodinma had successfully confiscated some properties belonging to Rochas Okorocha and alleged to have been procured with the state's funds. It's not surprising that Rochas while speaking to the press in his Spilbat Abode in the state's capital, Owerri, fingered Hope Uzodinma in the current ordeal of his Son-in-law. Rochas Okorocha alleged that Hope Uzodinma had deceived the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force, Alkali Baba Usman into approving the arrest of his Son-in-law as a means to framing him( Rochas) up.

“The shock of such an arrest without warrant and humiliating members of my family is unfortunate. Most security operatives in Imo know nothing about the arrest. I don’t know what they framed up. The IGP could only do this on high-level misinformation from Hope Uzodinma. Over 100 gunshots to arrest Uche Nwosu. What kind of ruthless behaviour on an innocent citizen of Nigeria?
“Uzodinma wants to frame me up by all means. Uzodinma has to answer for most of the activities going on. Uzodinma must mention the names of those who are responsible for insecurity in Imo State or he should be held responsible for all the killings in the state. Uzodinma has framed up something against Uche Nwosu. Buhari should be informed about what is happening in Imo State. Hundreds of citizens are being killed in this state.”
The former governor of Imo noted that there was no prior invitation by the Nigeria Police who arrested his Son-in-law without a warrant of arrest as required by the Nigerian constitution.
It's on this note we would want to examine the manner in which Uche Nwosu was arrested.
According to Rochas, sermon was ongoing when the police operatives stormed the church building and made away with Uche Nwosu without a shown warrant of arrest; in consequence, this is a blatant desecration of house of worship and an inconsiderate psychological torments on worshipers who were condemned to enduring several sounds of gun shots in the house of worship.
The nature of Nwosu's arrest, irrespective of whatever crime he had committed, is condemnable as its a concern for Christians in Nigeria.
