Finally: IPOB By Itself, Names Their Sponsors

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has revealed those financing it since its establishment by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in 2012.

The spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful revealed that the sponsors of the foremost  secessionist organization currently in Africa, span across the seven continents of the world.

According to him, IPOB is not a terrorists Organization; hence, its numerous members provide funds for the activities of the group from different countries. He added that the IPOB is too big to be financed by a single person. He also debunked claims that some Nigerian politicians are providing finances to the IPOB leadership. He said IPOB does not have anything to do with Nigerian Politicians nor their wealth which he described as amassed through illegitimate means.

"For the umpteenth time, no single individual can sponsor IPOB. We are a global movement and millions of our family members home and abroad remain the source of our sponsorship”, the statement reads

"We have never hidden this fact because we are not a secret or terror organisation. IPOB is well grounded and we don’t need any Okorocha, Uche Nwosu or Hope Uzodinma or any politician for that matter to sponsor us. We have no dealings with corrupt politicians and people with questionable source of wealth”.

IPOB is a nonviolent secessionist group seeking the restoration of the defunct Biafra Nation. The group claim that the root causes of the Nigerian/Biafran civil war of 1967-1970 have been  aggravated by post Biafra war Government administrations instead of being  addressed. Consequently, the group seeks an independent state for the people of southeast and south-south in the current Nigerian structure and which comprised the defunct Biafra Nation. IPOB believes that people of the defunct Biafra Nation are still politically, economically and socially sidelined, deprived of opportunities and marginalized on the basis of their ethnicity.

The leader and founder of the group, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently held in the custody of the Nigerian Secret police after he was abducted in Kenya by the Nigerian authorities.
