Watch A Fight-to-Finish Between Lastma Officers And An Uber Driver In Lagos Island

It's an interesting but a supposed avoidable, uncivil scene involving an officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and an Uber driver in Lagos Island.

Initially, it was an argument between a half-naked and supposed Uber driver whose vehicle was allegedly damaged by one LASTMA officer, but the struggle between the duo resulting in a free-for-all fighting bettween some of the LASTMA officers and the two half-dressed men seen in the video.

One of the witnesses at the scene, can be heard exclaiming, thus: "Lastma own don too much. We for Island we no dey fear Lastma".

Indeed, does the first sentence from this witness apply to the LASTMA officers in Lagos? Just a week ago, a commercial driver who had flouted the traffic regulation got into an argument with one LASTMA officer. In the viral video of the scene, the commercial driver repeatedly slapped the LASTMA officer who remained professional even in the face of his being brutalized. There have been events involving commercial drivers intentionally knocking down these officers while trying to evade justice. The incident on the 25th of February 2021 in which a driver knocked a Police Officer into a canal around the army resettlement centre in the Oshodi area, attests to the incessant brutalization of officers by drivers in Lagos.

Do LASTMA officers deserve these incessant brutalization and mistreatments from Lagosians ?
