President Buhari comes with another wonder but worry in disguise: Nigeria To wet-lease three aircraft for Air Nigeria to commence operation.
To wet-lease means to borrow, to hire; however, this type of borrowing is not just the aeroplane but the "flight crew" and "fuel" for the aeroplane.
Is this not madness? So, if you are going to borrow aeroplane and the pilot and the other crew including flight attendants, what then makes it Nigeria Air Line ?
Meanwhile, it was the minister of Aviation, Hadi Siriki who disclosed the federal government plan to borrow the three aircraft. According to Mr. Siriki, Nigeria will do with borrowing until Nigeria is able to buy hers. He said the decision was reached on Wednesday during the Federal Executive Council Meeting presided by President Buhari.
“So they will start with a wet-lease of three aircraft and then continue to expand, place orders and then get deliveries", he said
"They will start with wet-leased aircraft and that’s how 90 percent of airlines in the world would have started".
No be juju be that ?
He further revealed that the ministry will be open to proposals from Prospective investors by next week.
"Nigeria Air would be quoted on the stock exchange and Nigerians would be allowed to buy shares in the airline. We will release what is called Request for Proposals very soon. I believe next week. And this Request for Proposals will describe what and what we are asking for,” he said.
