Anxiety: Buhari States Date His Government Will Remove Subsidy On Fuel

 Insensitive, mindless Buhari's Government is set to remove subsidy on Petrol Motor Spirit ( fuel, petrol). This was made known by Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, the minister of Finance, budget and national planning today, 23rd of November, 2023.

Mrs. Zainab while speaking at the World Bank Nigeria Development Update, noted that the PMS subsidy will be removed in June 2022, but however stated that the policy could be implemented by Buhari's Government at a sooner date other than the given.

She said the policy is in line with the Petroleum Industrial Act (PIA) and relies on the claim by World Bank Development Update that 40% of the poorest Nigerians consume less than 3% of the PMS produced in the country.

She claims that the poor Nigerians benefit less from the PMS than their wealthy counterpart; hence, the decision for Buhari's Government to introduce 5000 Naira grants to the poorest Nigerians. She said that the grant will get to 20% to 40% of the poorest Nigerians.

One wonders if Buhari truly mean well of Nigerians and whether his cabal are not yet pathetic to the plight of Nigeria.
