The smart way: Lessons from Whitemoney and BBNaija Season 6

It's no secret that Hazel Oyeze Onou a.k.a Whitemoney has become the sixth winner of the Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show after 72 days in the house.

Whitemoney got the highest number of votes to defeat his runner up, Liquorose, at the grand finale.

The 29 year old, also referred to as Mazi by fellow ex-housemates, did not waste time to make an impact in the house after the show began on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

His culinary expertise made him the show’s resident chef from whom all other ex-housemates benefitted.

Some other ex-housemates who meant business  noticed the moves Whitemoney was making to remain relevant on the show, when in the third week, he became a full-blown threat to a couple of them that included the second runner-up, Pere.

Pere had told other housemates during his reign as the Head of House that Whitemoney’s largesse with the cooking was all a strategy. This, however, did not go down well with other housemates who were left hungry for almost a week.

One of Whitemoney’s highlights on the show was his showdown with Pere just before the show got into the fifth week. The two had a showdown that had many fans of the show tilting towards Whitemoney.

So, what made him so loved among BBNaija fans, and what lessons can be learnt from the man who just won N30 million cash, and other prizes.

Despite some people's reservations about the BBNaija, Whitemoney's composure throughout the duration of the show is a lesson everyone can tap from.

His respect for fellow ex-housemates, and humility through out the show was exemplary. It must be said that Whitemoney came into the show as the most influential socialite, and the biggest boy among the ex-housemates. Yet, he served everyone with his skills, and won the heart of fans.

Secondly, he went in the house with the perfect strategy. Whitemoney was not one of those that went in to chase clout. A  number of the ex-housemates clearly went in to explore sexual contents as a way of gaining fame, and popularity among the fans

That was seen from the way Angel became unbothered flaunting her nakedness, while Boma felt comfortable almost having an intercourse with a married Tega.

Whitemoney in all these proved that those explicit contents are not necessarily the way to gain fame, and in fact being smart is always the way to go.

The resident chef, who was also regarded as daddy to another housemate, Nini, was one of the top favourites for many housemates. He also won the hearts of several housemates for giving advices and helping them out, even to his own detriment.

According to the organisers, Whitemoney will be rewarded with N30 million cash prize, a top of the range SUV from Nigerian automaker, Innoson Motors, a trip to Dubai for two packaged by TravelBeta, a trip for one sponsored by Guinness to Seychelles, a year’s supply of Pepsi, among other prizes.
