A 57-year-old trader, Mrs. Chima Udemi, has told an Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Wednesday that her husband, Tobechukwu, was an irresponsible father, unrepentant adulterer, who has slept with her sister and friends.
Our Correspondent reports that
the trader said so while responding to a suit filed by Tobechukwu, who had
accused her of infidelity.
“Tobechukwu is a serial
womanizer; he sleeps with my younger sister and my friends. He had once
abandoned me and our seven children and relocated to his mistress’ house.”
“He is an irresponsible husband
and father. I struggled doing unpleasant jobs to feed my children. He lives
with me in the house I single-handedly built, eats my food, drinks my water and
still frustrates my life.”
“If my husband insists on
divorcing me, he should be ready to move out of my house” she said.
The trader, a mother of seven,
urged the Court to grant her husband’s request for the dissolution of their
marriage.
“When I die, he should not come
for my burial. And I can assure you that when he dies, I will never attend his
burial” she said.
The petitioner, Tobechukwu,
prayed the Court to dissolve his 33-year-old marriage accusing his wife of
Infidelity.
“My wife is having an affair with
a man from her village. She also abandoned me and the children for 10 years.”
“She deserted her matrimonial
home to an unknown destination for 10 years, she just returned in 2020” he
said.
After listening to both parties,
the presiding judge of the Court, Justice. Adeniyi Koledoye, directed the estranged couple
to maintain peace.
End my marriage so that I can freely have sex- another woman tells court
The marriage between two Police
officers, Inspector Simon Gabriel and his estranged wife, Inspector Adoba
Odeligbo, has collapsed after the man chased the wife away from their
matrimonial home and denied her sex for 8 years.
Thus, the wife has approached the
Makurdi Upper Area Court in Benue State, to dissolve the marriage so that she
can be free to have sex because their marriage was conducted in a native way,
which forbids her to sleep with another man.
Our Correspondent reports that
the embittered wife, Inspector Odeligbo, told the Court that her husband paid
N5 as her bride price and she was prepared to pay 1,000 times fold of the bride
price so that she can be free to sleep with another man.
Mrs. Odeligbo told the Court
during her testimony that the marriage between her and Gabriel had broken down
irretrievably.
She explained that she got
married to Gabriel in 2005 under the Idoma Native Laws and she has two children
but on March 8, 2014, Gabriel sent her out of their matrimonial home because
she requested to attend a marriage ceremony and since then she has not slept
with any man because of their culture.
“I want the Court to dissolve
this marriage so that I can have my freedom; because of our tradition I can’t
do anything now that we are still legally married, even though we are
separated.”
“He paid N5 as bride price. I am
ready to give him N5, 000.
All efforts to reconcile us
failed. My offence is that I asked for permission to attend a marriage
ceremony. He became aggressive and said I was not his wife so I should not tell
him about my movement.”
“We did everything but he
refused. I pleaded with him but he refused. Even the apartment he is staying in
Lafia was the one given to me by the Police” she said.
She prayed to the Court to order
her husband to cater for his kids, also pay their school fees and other expenses
for the children.
Enraged couple crashes their 15-year old marriage over infidelity
Ekiti based Couple Abiodun Omotoyinbo
and his wife, Taiwo, has destroyed their 15 years old Marriage over allegations
of deceit and adultery.
Our Correspondent reports that
while the husband, Abiodun, alleged in Court that he caught his wife with
another man, the wife revealed how he impregnated another woman in the same
adultery mess.
Following their positions, an
Ekiti Customary Court sitting in Ikole-Ekiti, dissolved the marriage between
Mr. Abiodun and his wife, Taiwo, on grounds of adultery.
Delivering Judgment, the
President of the Court, Mrs. Yemisi Ojo, held that the marriage had broken down
irretrievably and consequently dissolved the union.
Mrs. Ojo ordered both parties to
go their separate ways as they stand unmarried and ordered that the 9-year old
child of the union should remain with Omotoyinbo.
The Court ordered the father to
be responsible for the payment of the child’s school fees and Abiodun to allow
the child see the mother.
The petitioner, Abiodun
Omotoyinbo, 36, who is a farmer, in his evidence told the Court that the
respondent was the mother of his child and prayed for the dissolution marriage
because he alleged to have caught her on several occasions committing adultery
and she never showed any remorse.
“She threatened my life with
fetish substances and has also threatened the life of the woman, who is
pregnant for me.
Her threat came true because my
woman is yet to give birth one year after she took in” he said.
In her defense, Taiwo, 25, a
businesswoman, denied all the allegations levelled against her by the
petitioner and informed the Court that Abiodun committed adultery and
impregnated a woman, which has affected their marriage.
“I never threatened the
petitioner or the woman, who is pregnant for him. I do not agree with the
dissolution because of my nine-year old baby” she said.
