Married woman robbed, drugged and raped after taking free ride


A  27  year old Married woman, has landed in a hospital after she was allegedly drugged,  raped and robbed of her N260,000,00,  by a 30-year old man, Gboyega Ogunlola, who gave her a free  ride .

Ogunlola, did not stop at raping the married woman but inserted a piece of iron into her private part after stealing her money.

 The incident happened on 5th September, 2021, at Iworoko area of Ekiti State, where they reside.

After the alleged act, the incident was reported to the Police, who trailed the suspect and eventually arrested him.

 In her statement to the Police, the victim narrated that the suspect took her in his car when she was going to Anambra State to check on her children and she slept off in the process.

“I later found myself in Ogunlola’s room, where he raped me and inserted a piece of iron in my private part, which injured and landed me in a hospital” she said.

The woman also alleged that the suspect stole her phone and the sum of N260,000 meant for her children’s school fees and was said to have been traumatized after the act.

Police investigation and interrogation, found the suspect culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates Court.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, stated at the Court the accused person was reasonably suspected to have committed the offences of rape, attempted murder and stealing from the victim, which offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 358, 320 and 390 of Criminal Code, Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

 Apata urged the Court to remand the defendant in custody to enable him to forward the duplicate case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Saka Afunso, who granted the prosecutor’s request, ordered that the accused person should be remanded at a Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti pending availability of legal advice from the DPP.

The case was adjourned till 5th October, 2021, for mention.

STEALING FROM THE DEAD:  Man who stole from dead neighbour's shop arrested

A 59-year old man, Folorunso Ilori, has been arrested and charged  to Court for burgling and carting away goods worth over one million Naira from his dead neighbor's shop.

While the suspects deceased neighbor late Mrs. Marian Abdulsalam's burial was being planned in their neighborhood, Ilori secretly went and burgled her shop and carted away goods worth about N1m and escaped.

Our Correspondent reports that the incident happened at Ogundare Street, Oke Odo area of Lagos, where the shop is located.

The Police alleged that the victim, late Mariam Abdulsalam, fell sick and died in the process and while people were grieving over her death and were making arrangements for her burial, unknown to their neighbours that the suspect had another thing in his mind.

The suspect, Ilori, who pretended to be mourning her, secretly burgled the shop, carted away her wares and escaped.

When the relations of the deceased went to the shop in the morning, they discovered that the shop was burgled and items inside carted away.

While the neighbours were wondering how robbers burgled the shop, information leaked that it was Ilori that allegedly burgled the shop and carted away the goods.

The matter was reported to the Police and he was arrested.

After interrogation and having been found culpable, he was charged before Ogba Magistrates Court for burglary and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove he actually committed the alleged offence.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 7th October, 2021.
