The Department of State Services, (DSS) has filed a five-count terrorism charge against two detained associates of Yoruba political activist, Sunday Adeyemo commonly known as Sunday Igboho.
They are Noah Oyetunji and Amudat Babatunde who were among the 12 associates that were arrested at Igboho’s residence during the July 1 raid by operatives of DSS.
In the charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/305/2021, the DSS alleged that the 1st Defendant, Oyetunji, was in possession of fire arms for terrorism-related activities, while it accused Amudat of helping to promote acts of terrorism, through her Facebook page.
Some of the counts in the charge dated September 1, 2021 are “that you Jamiu Noah Oyetunji, Amudat Habitat Babatunde, adults with others still at large, on or about the 1st day of July 2021, at the residence of one Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo (aka Sunday Igboho), located at Saka area of Ibadan, Oyo state within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did conspire to commit acts of terrorism, to wits: possession of prohibited firearms, contrary to section 17 of the Terrorism (Prohibtion) Amendment Act, 2013 and punishable under same section of the Act.”
That you Jamiu Noah Oyetunji, Amudat Habitat Babatunde, with others still at large, on or about the 1st day of July 2021, at the residence of one Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo (aka Sunday Igboho), located at Saka area of Ibadan, Oyo state within the jurisdiction of this honourable court did have in your possesssion,without lawful authority, the under listed prohibited firearms: five AK 47 rifles with serial numbers 04956, 213740, 8673, 945999, and 6139 respectively; two AK 47 rifles which serial numbers cannot be indentified; two Pump action rifles with serial numbers 8836 and 9398 respectively; one Pump action rifle which serial number cannot be indentified and one stun gun, contrary to section 1(3) (C) (V) of the Terrorism Prevention Act CAP 10, 2011 and punishable under section 1(2) of the Terrorism Prevention (Amendment) Act, 2013.
They were charged in count three for having in their possession without lawful authority 1.295 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and 221 live rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.
In count four, in the charge jointly signed by S.M Bello and M.I. Bennett, the prosecution alleged that the defendants were involved in activities in preparation to commit acts of terrorism.
Amudat Habitat Babatunde was charged alone in count five of using her Facebook account as a platform to promote terrorism actions.
The alleged offences, according to the prosecution, are punishable under the same law.
Policemen Killed, roasted inside patrol van by unknown gunmen in Delta
Meanwhile, three policemen attached to the
Umutu Divisional Police Headquarters in Delta State have been reportedly killed
and roasted in their official patrol vehicle by unknown gunmen
It was gathered that the
policemen were killed at a checkpoint on Wednesday morning by armed men whose
identities were yet to be ascertained as at press time.
Our Correspondent learnt that the
incident happened around 7:40am at a checkpoint mounted by the late officers
along the Obeti/Oliogo Road in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.
Local sources confirmed that the
Toyota Sienna patrol van recently donated to the Umutu police division was
burnt in the process.
One of the sources said the
gunmen after killing the police officers, reportedly went ahead to set them
ablaze inside the Toyota Sienna.
According to him “Three police
officers attached to the Umutu Division Police Headquarters were attacked and
killed on arrival to a checkpoint between Obeti and Oliogo in Ukwuani Local
Government Area of Delta.
“They were burnt beyond
recognition in their Toyota Sienna patrol vehicle”, a source in the area said.
Meanwhile, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Edafe Bright confirmed the incident but stated that no arrest had been made yet
in connection with the incident.
